Enugu Rangers have climbed back to the top spot on the Nigeria Professional Football League table after they were able to force out a 1-1 draw against Enyimba in the Oriental Derby played in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

Rangers who had a big setback last weekend when they dropped points at home against Lobi Stars knew they had to muscle out something from the derby clash and the solitary point from Sunday’s game was enough to take the Flying Antelopes to the summit of the log.

Rangers are occupying the number one position on the table with 48 points from 28 matches, a point ahead of Wikki Tourists, who were knocked off the summit after they lost 3-0 at Akwa United, also on Sunday.

Striker Stephen Chukwude scored Enyimba’s goal in Port Harcourt but Rangers restored parity through Godwin Aguda with a cut-back from Bobby Clement.

In other matches, Shooting Stars were victorious in the South West derby, defeating Sunshine Stars 2-1.

Elsewhere, Lobi Stars were ruthless in Markurdi as they hammered Warri Wolves 3-0, Plateau upstaged hosts MFM 1-0 in Lagos as Niger Tornadoes stopped Abia Warriors 2-1.

In Nnewi, IfeanyiUbah extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches after they defeated Kano Pillars 2-1, while the match between Rivers United and Ikorodu United was postponed after the Port Harcourt outfit got involved in a road accident.
