Nigeria League Review: Wikki Tourists reclaim top spot

Wikki Tourists of Bauchi are back at the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League table after their 2-1 win over MFM FC on Sunday.

It was Godwin Obaje who scored the two goals for Wikki on Sunday; first heading in the ball off an assist by Mustapha Ibrahim in the 18th minute.

The striker was on hand again in the 36th minute to complete his brace as he doubled Wikki’s lead when he poked in the ball from a goalmouth melee.

Though MFM through Austine Ogunye pulled one back in the second half, it was not enough to deny Wikki maximum points in the Match Day 31 tie.

With the win, Wikki now have 53 points, two more than second-placed Enugu Rangers who are on 51 points.

In Maiduguri, it was goals galore as El-Kanemi Warriors and Sunshine Stars played out a five-goal thriller.

El-kanemi emerged victorious, beating Sunshine 3-2.

In other centres, the quartet of Kano Pillars, Akwa United, Heartland FC and Ikorodu United all secured lone goal wins over their respective opponents.
There was only one away win in the weekend’s pairings and it was in Warri where FC Ifeanyi Ubah beat Wolves 1-0.
